2017 BookADay Reads from Debbie Redpath Ohi

First, Ohi has created a fabulous site to keep track of her daily picture book reads. Second, she archives her readings as a visual story “by taking a photo of a blank Hilroy notebook page, then adding graphics and handwriting using Photoshop”, All of this is shared in an online bulletin board called Padlet.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)

A fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing – “One part writing boot camp, one part rollicking party… This year, NaNoWriMo expects over 400,000 people—including over 70,000 K-12 students and
educators on our Young Writers Program website—to start a 50,000-word novel in the month of
November. Throughout the month, they’ll be guided by this year’s theme: Superpowered
Noveling.”
Every year I think about taking the challenge.  Every year I don’t do it. But if 70,000 k12 student can do it, why not me? Note: You really should get your signup and groundwork in order during October. It’s free to sign up and support/encouragement galore.

When you create an account, you’ll be able to:

  •  Plan your novel.
  •  Join a local group of writers and attend in person writing events.
  •  Receive online encouragement from staff and published authors.
  •  Access a worldwide community of writers in our online forums.
