I have an unnatural fascination with old and odd information. Because of this, I also own more an a couple of sets of really old reference books. If you have never tried to reference information from an old encyclopedia, then you probably have never realized that these books often were just accumulations and layers of knowledge. The initial article might have been written in 1910, but then every decade or so, a few new tidbits were thrown in.
My current volume of interest is The Grolier’s Book of Knowledge, Volume 11.For this one volume, there are nineteen copyright dates, ranging from 1910 to 1955. The photos range from any period during those dates. I found one fascinating photo of Mr Hugh Walpole, novelist, and that inspired some drawing and crosshatching.
